Gymnastics!

Today began the new session of gymnastics for Alex.  The teachers decided at the end of the last parent/tot session that Alex was ready to move up to the next level of class...where she goes solo.  Mommy sits on the bleachers on the side...and off she goes!  Her best friend, Emily, is in the class too, which I think helped make the transition smooth.  And that she already knew both the teachers from being in class all summer.

For the most part, she did really well staying with the teacher, following directions, and trying to do what the teacher asked of her.  And amazingly, the one skill we had been working with her on all summer (a cat's cradle, where she hangs on the bar, puts her feet up and under the bar and flips over) she did today without a moment of hesitation!

It was cute though, since Alex and Emily ended up working with different teachers today, randomly Alex would stand up and wave "Hi Emily!" across the gym.  And Emily could be heard on occasion saying she wanted to be her friend Alex.  But they both did really well, had a lot of fun, and seem excited to go back again next week.

We are planning on going to Open Gym next week, so I will try to take a few more pictures of Alex in action.  She really does love going to gymnastics!
