1st Day of School!

We have been talking a lot these past few weeks about how we are going to start school at home with mommy.  Alex has been helping me set up our school area, checking out some of the "new" toys I have been saving for her from my teaching days, and talking about the different things she wants to learn.

Today was the day!  We decided to start today since daddy would be home to join us and take a few pictures.  For the first day, things went pretty well...I am a little rusty and need to figure out my groove again, but she seemed to have a good time.

The only thing that had her a little distressed was that she wanted to go outside and wait for the school bus...so we improvised and daddy "drove" her to school in the play school bus we got a few years back.

And now we are ready to get started!  Our focus this month will be colors and shapes and the letters A and B.  We started with the calendar, moved on to a story, then played a game sorting shapes.  We also made a shape collage for our art project of the day.

Putting the date on the calendar

Learning what day today is, yesterday was, and tomorrow will be...

 Froggy weather!
 Reading Brown Rabbit's Shape Book
Shape Sorting...which was WAY too easy for her.

 Making her shape collage.

The finished project!  She only had to wipe the glue off her fingers 3 times while working in this project....yep, sensory exploration is high on my "to work on" list for her this year.
