We had one of those wonderful end of summer days with friends at the pool today. Of course, I forgot to grab the camera and today was such a fun day at the pool!
This summer our goals for Alex included becoming comfortable at the pool, gaining confidence in the water, and to really start to enjoy being in the pool. By about half way through the summer she pretty much decided that she was done with the little pool and preferred to be in the big pool with mommy and/or daddy. She gained confidence and decided that jumping in was one of the best parts of going to the pool, but while in the water she pretty much would hold on tight and was not ready to try to be on her own.
Today I got her into her life jacket before we headed into the big pool. As we started out, she pretty much kept a tight grip on my hand. Then all of sudden she started to get more confident and brave...holding onto just one finger. Then all of a sudden she was swimming on her own! She was so excited and had the best time swimming from mommy to the wall, to our friends, and just around. It was amazing! And just about the perfect end to our summer pool days. I was so proud of her and she was so proud of herself! Hopefully we can get back to the pool this weekend with daddy before it closes and get some pictures/video of her swimming on her own.
But for now...here is another picture I got at the gardens Monday.
