As many of you know, Alex just ADORES going to gymnastics! It is one of her favorite things we do each week. She gets so excited to go, talks about what she is learning, and tries to practice her new skills at every possible moment. One thing our Rec Center offers twice a week is an "open gym" time for kids 6 and under to go have free time in the gymnastics studio. Most kids spend time on the trampoline, playing balls, or just running around. Alex does this for about the first 15 min or so of the hour, then she finds the areas she likes best (bars, balance beam, and any tumbling obstacles) then she will focus her time and energy in these areas, practicing the parts of class she likes the best.
We have been meeting friends almost weekly now for open gym and this week I remembered to bring the camera with me. Now, they are not all the best pictures, because she hardly stops moving and was not really in the mood to pose for pictures, but you get the idea of what she up to!
I had a chance to talk to her teacher this week and we are going to keep her in this class through spring and then re-evaluate her for the summer sessions. She is doing really well skill wise, we just need to work on the staying focused part a little more. But her teacher said that we will be moving her up before she is 4, just not sure if it will be summer or fall session.
