School Time!

We are getting back into our routine of school time 3-4 times per week.  Alex loves to do circle time with songs, calendar, stories, and flannel board stories.  Even on the weekends she likes to at least do this much, making sure that daddy comes to school time too!

She is now counting up to about 40 with just a little assistance (she tends to skip 13, 27, and 37).  I love listening to her count!  20 is 20-0 and 30 is 20-30 :)  She can recognize her numbers up through 20 with almost 100%  consistency, and she has pretty much nailed one to one correspondence, as long as she slows down.

But we are seeing HUGE gains in her language development.  Not just her vocabulary (which is huge!) but she recognizes all upper case letters, many of the lower case letters and is getting really good at identifying beginning sounds.  She is so interested to know what words start with!

She can spell her name (Alex) without any problem, recognizes Alexandra, knows Mommy starts with M, Emily (her BFF) starts with E, Nicole (Emily's mom) starts with N and Daddy starts with D.  Then just this week she announced to me that Daddy has an A in his name, just like Alex.  And then spelled Daddy "D-A-D-D-Y"!

She loves to write on the chalkboard in our school room.  This is what she did this week...all on her own without an guidance or prompting from me.  In fact, I was in the kitchen making dinner when she did this work!

Then I managed to get a few shots of her yesterday morning...yep still in her jammies.  She would spend all day in her jammies everyday if we let her!

**Wow, 3 new posts in less than 24 hours...don't get used to this, but I am trying to do better about posting pictures and updates on what Alex is up to and how the "little dragon" (as Alex calls the baby) is coming along.**
