Today Alex is one week old. It is hard to believe the time has gone so fast! She is doing so well...We had our first check up with her doctor yesterday and she is already up 4 oz from when we left the hospital! She is close to her birth weight and they are very pleased with how she is doing.
She is sleeping at night in her crib, which is just amazing to us. And as mentioned before, very relieving. We really want to avoid starting her sleeping in our bed with us, as much as we both love snuggling with her, we really felt that we needed one time/place that was still for Steve and I. We also want her to be comfortable in her room, to help with sleep issues as she gets older.
It continues to snow...making it so much fun to stay home and snuggle in with her. We have taken her to Target (twice now!) and also to the hospital to visit friends who just had their baby girl on Saturday 12/20/08. Alex is so lucky to have all these friends right from the start, as in addition to my sister's little girl, two of my really good friends have baby girls! We are super excited to get "mommy and me" or play groups started :)
So far things are going really well, though it is much easier with the two of us to tag team with her. Steve is the most amazing dad and so quick to jump in and take care of either something around the house, or with Alex. It will be different when he has to go back to work next week. At least he only has to work 3 days next week and 4 the following week. I LOVE that he can take just about every other Friday off, so we can have family time. He is already anticpiateing missing her tons.
Be sure to check out the new slide show to the right...we will try to get more pictures/slide shows up as time goes on.
Genny, Steve, and Alexandra
