Pike's Peak

We decided that Grandma Joan needed a chance to really get up and close with the mountains of Colorado.  So we decided to do something that Steve and I have been talking about doing since we moved here..taking a drive up to the summit of Pike's Peak.  It was a breathtaking drive, full of amazing views, a few tight curves and corners, and a few gulp worthy drop offs!  But we did had a great time and got some amazing pictures.  we stopped for a picnic lunch about half way up and enjoyed getting out and running around a little bit.  It was MUCH cooler up at the summit and Alex was hitting her limit of looking at pretty sights!  She ended up taking a "little snooze" on the way back down.

Alex took this one of mommy and daddy...guess our smiling faces are just not a priority for her!

She really does love to picnic!

But she loves to climb on the rocks even more :)

Steve at the summit

Genny at the summit...and we had to get the belly so we could prove to this little one that he had in fact been there at least once!
It was so beautiful to be above the clouds...if not a bit chilly!

 And still so much snow!

You can kind of get a glimpse of the windy, curvy road we had to take

These rocks we did not let her climb this time...

And since we were right there, we drove through the Garden of the Gods, stopping at the visitor center for photos (and a potty break!)

One of the few pictures of Steve and Genny!
And a nice one of the three of us
