Raindrops Keep Falling On My Head...

...and tornado sirens keep going off!  It has been some crazy wacky weather here the last few days.  The mornings are hot and sunny, the afternoons the clouds roll in, the winds kick up, and the rain falls and falls and falls.  It took Steve 2 hrs to get home Wednesday night because of all the water.  Traffic was backed up, roads were closed due to flash flooding, and power was out to some of the traffic signals.  Here at home we just had lots of wind and rain.

Tonight was a doozy of a storm.  We were just finishing up our Friday night pizza/movie (Ice Age 2) when we heard the sirens go off.  We went outside to check it (yes, we are Midwesterners through and through.  Rain?  Thunder?  Tornado siren? Guess we better go outside and take a look!)  Steve got these shots of the storm moving in...

Then once we got Alex settled in, Steve got these shots of the actual storm.  It was sort of beautiful...to the north, south, and east we had dark dark rain clouds, lots of thunder, lightening, and the wind was just whipping around.  Then to the west, over the mountains, you could see the sun breaking through the clouds.  But I appreciate it now why the end of drive way is still a slight curb, and not the slanted apron I was used to in WI.  When it rains here...it POURS and these curbs keep the water flowing down to the drainage areas and not flooding our yard!

Then after the storm, we got a beautiful double rainbow!

And all the while, Alex was happy to watch her favorite show (Phineas and Ferb) and dance around the basement.
