Happy St Nicholas' Day!

Today we continued Genny's family tradition of celebrating St Nick's Day with stockings on December 6. We will also continue with Steve's family tradition of stockings on Christmas morning from Santa. Lucky girl...two stockings each year!

She was not really sure what to make of the whole event, but did enjoy pulling things out of her stocking. This year was a small year, as she can't really enjoy any of the candy or nuts that St Nick would normally leave with the little gifts, so she had to "settle" for her little gifts. She got a jingle bell ornament for our tree and a Sesame Street toy remote. She was quite happy to jingle the bell and push all the buttons on the remote!

Here she is with her stocking.

You skipped one major part of St. Nick! The Olives or at least you should have gotten her some pickles!

This is fun, Genny! However, I know nothing about St Nicholas' Day... What's it all about? Is it a specific cultural tradition or just a Genny's Family tradition? (Inquiring minds [who never had a Santa of their very own and are exited about the idea for their daughter] want to know!)
