Today was the day...Alex's first haircut! She has finally grown enough hair that it was time...at least for a trim. The goal was to even out the ends, cut of any really dry parts, and just get it to a nice healthy place. We didn't want bangs or to lose a ton of the length, and our stylist did a great job!
After seeking feedback from friends on the best places to go, we settled on
Pigtails and Crewcuts, a place that specializes in kids haircuts. They have fun vehicles for the kids to sit in, movies on TV, and for older kids, even video games to play while getting their hair cut! Alex selected the Fire Truck and away we went! She did fairly well for the first part of the haircut, but then had a slight meltdown wanting to get down, be done, and in general, have people stop touching her head/hair. This was likely due to a mix of her not really liking anyone futzing with her hair, and that is was almost nap time. But she did amazingly well, our little rock star :)
Our stylist was great, talking to Alex, finding ways to get her look where she needed her to with toys, and just moving right along with Alex to get the hair cut. In the end, it looks great, we got a nice photo, and a lock of her hair for her baby book.
