Getting Bigger Every Day!

Steve and I have been talking about when to move Alex into a big girl bed, at what point is she ready, and at what point am I ready.  I say that because I have had reservations about moving her into a big girl bed, only because the ease of her being contained in her crib makes putting her down for a nap or at night when she is maybe not quite ready much simpler.  No getting in and out of bed, no playing when she is supposed to be sleeping.  But we knew we were getting close the time when it would not be open for discussion.

We are planning on redoing her room this spring, complete with purple walls, fairies, butterflies, and all things little girl. And while I had hoped to put it off a few more weeks or months, today she showed us how easily she can climb in and out of her crib on her own.  Since I would rather have a night time visit by my sweet little girl rather than hear a loud clunk as she climbs out...off to Target for a new big girl pillow and bedding set we went!  It is amazing how few choices are out there for toddler bedding.  But we found a nice set that we could agree on  and that we can use as a spring board for her big girl room redesign this spring.  We will still be going with the purple/fairy/butterfly theme, it will just be done in stages instead of all at once.  I still need to find a new dust ruffle, but her Winnie the Pooh one will work for now.

After nap time, Alex and daddy worked to take down the crib part and convert her bed into a toddler bed.  Then we put on her new sheets, comforter and pillow.  She had a blast climbing up into bed and trying out her new big girl bed!  We shall see how tonight goes...though she is very excited about her big girl bed.
