Our amazing little girl...

We finally had Alex's 15 month appt last week and yay for the no shots this time around. Though I had brought all the necessary items to make shots better...snuggle toy, mommy's cell phone, and PB M&M's. She did find the M&M's in the bag, so of course even without shots she got a couple :) I am such an easy mark for her!

Prior to each appt, the clinic sends us a form to fill out that asks what kinds of things our little Monkey is up to. Can she stand up on her own? yes Can she take a few steps unassisted? yes Can she run across the room? yes Does she use a spoon/fork with little assistance? yes Can she drink from a regular cup without too much spilling? yes Can she stack blocks to make a tower at least 3 blocks tall? yes Can she throw a ball? yes Kick a ball? yes Can she hold a crayon/pen/pencil? yes (she holds it just like your or I would)

Pretty much everything was a yes...putting her in line with children in the 23-24 month range developmentally. Alex's doctor was very impressed by all that she is able to do and pleased at how healthy, happy, and easy going our little one is. She referred to Alex as the highlight of her Friday afternoon :)

Alex is also a little talker. She loves to talk on the phone, though the minute someone is actually on the phone and talks back...she clams up of course! This weekend we made a list of her spoken vocabulary which include the following:
momma
da/dadda
kitty
boo (for both cats)
Hi
Whee
No
Yeah
Cheese (comes out more like che)
Wow
Roar (when asked what bear says)
meow
ruff (when asked what a puppy says or sees/hears a puppy)
Baa (when asked what a sheep says)
Neigh (when asked what a horse says)
Pooh
Ball
Num Num (for M&M's)
mmmm (when eating something she likes)
ahh (after taking a drink)
Ow
uh oh

She mostly uses the words at the appropriate time, though she does not always speak when asked...she has to be in the right mood.

She amazes us every day with what she knows and what she can do.
