Alex's best event was bars...which also happen to be a favorite. There was one skill that all the intermediate level gymnasts had trouble with, and which caused Alex a little anxiety...but she ROCKED it and did all by herself. Which the coach spotting made sure that the judge noticed :)

GU Mini Olympics
Today, Alex's gymnastics club put on a mini Olympics for the classes (as opposed to team kids). This summer each class has been learning routines on the bars, vault, floor, and beam (boys did vault, floor, high bar and p bar). Alex was so excited to participate and it was her first chance at "competing". Team girls were the judges. The kids were divided into teams and represented different "countries". And while they were judged, and it was announced which teams placed where, every gymnasts got a medal and a chance to stand on the podium. It really was about giving these kids a chance to do their best, have fun, and see what a little mini meet is like.
