Nicholas did not take to breastfeeding the same way Alex did, so that was one early struggle we had (are still having..or more to the point, we are deciding if we are going to go that route or not with him) but since we needed to get food into him...we did expressed breast milk supplemented by formula. He also developed a strong case of jaundice with his bilirubin numbers creeping into a higher risk area than the doctors liked, combined with a larger than ideal post birth weight drop (kind of happens when you don't eat...) he was put on light therapy. They did a biliblanket in the hospital and we have had a light bed for him at home. Think happy sunshine lights...

I am happy to say that as of today his numbers are down into the normal range for his age, he is eating (bottle fed formula while mommy pumps and freezes for now), and is more alert and interactive every day. If this is the biggest challenge he gives us, we will be lucky! He just wanted us to know from day one that he really is his own person :)
