Making a house a home

A year ago (almost to the day) we put the offer in our house.  And we still love it!  We are having so much fun settling in, making it ours, and thinking about all the things we want to do.  Amazing how fast that list grows, even when you love the house itself.  When we moved in, we were lucky the previous owners had already covered up the painters white that dominates a house and put up a very nice, neutral tan.  It is a good base for each room and allowed us the time to think about what we wanted to do to put our own stamp on the house.

These past few weeks we have started to do so in earnest.  Starting by painting Alex's bathroom.  We wanted something fun, bright, and kid friendly, but not "cartoony".  Some of you may have seen these pictures on Facebook, but for those of you who have not...here is her new bathroom:

The next project was to move Alex into her new "big girl room".  Goodbye to Winnie the Pooh and Hello to Tinker Bell and the Fairies.

this green shelf may get a new coat of paint with the lighter purple...

She is so excited to be in her "new room".  I am so happy with how her room turned out, it is pretty much exactly how we wanted  it to.

Alex continues to love music...here she is dancing with daddy!
