Grandma Joan's Colorado Visit

Alex and Grandma Joan (at the Denver Zoo)

This past week we had our first visit from my mom (Grandma Joan) to Colorado. It was her first time to Colorado so we had a great time driving around, looking at the mountains, showing her the sights. We had a great week and are already thinking about places to show Grandma next time she visits.

Alex LOVED having her Grandma around. She loved showing her all the things she can do, her favorite parks to play at, and all the animals at the zoo. We got to see the new baby tigers and the new baby orangutan at the Denver Zoo. And while Alex loves to the ride the train at the zoo, it was closed due to repairs, so we tried out the carousel. Once it got started, she thought this was great fun. (I didn't get any pics on the carousel since I was riding with her, maybe next time with daddy).
what a ham! She has even started to say "cheese" for the camera :)

We also decided to have a birthday celebration for Alex while Grandma was here. At this age, you can not have too many opportunities to celebrate! I think this may be a tradition, that we celebrate her bday when the grandma is in town. Grandma loved watching her open her presents, play with the HUGE balloon Grandma picked out, and of course we had to have cake, yummy! And as you can see, she did better this time around with the cake, since it did not end up in her hair!!!
She loved her new bed for her babies!

Present opening is serious business!
Her current favorite book
I Know a Coyote Who Swallowed a Flea

Now THIS is a balloon!

She was not so sure about the party hat concept...

...but she really enjoyed blowing out her candles :)

Yummy, chocolate frosting!

Alex still loves to play outside when ever she can. She is getting more confident on the swings and is slowly moving to the "big girl swing"

She also enjoyed helping daddy mow the lawn...maybe mommy will never have to the mow the lawn!

And our little monkey at the park
