Manitou Cave Dwellings

Today we traveled to Colorado Springs for a field trip of the Manitou Cave Dwellings with other homeschoolers including some of our bestest friends.

The are a prehistoric people as they did not have a written language.  They were a non-nomadic tribe that built homes in the cliffs.

We learned a lot and had some amazing views, along with spending time with great friends...pretty much a gold star day!!!

Grinding corn

Our wonderful tour guide telling us about the tools the Anasazi people used

Alex and her friend Danika...getting ready to paint pots

Nicholas and I working on his pot.

Those large rectangles?  those are the doors...there were 3 floors of dwellings...

Ah, the views!!!

The kids went in through the doors...the adults took another, slightly taller pathway!

Alex is the height of an adult Anasazi...she is in the doorway!
