Swimming!

This session Alex has graduated to the "big kids" swimming classes, which means that like at gymnastics, mommy and daddy sit on the sidelines while Alex goes to class.  She just LOVES going to swimming lessons each Saturday morning.  The class is small (5 kids max) and the teacher, Miss Amy, is really good about keeping the kids engaged, active, and in the water.  I am sure it is tough, since many of the skills require one on one attention, but she does a really good job.

They play a "Red Light/Yellow Light/Green Light" game where Red light means blow bubbles, Yellow light means to kick slowly, and Green light is to kick really fast.  Alex also likes us to play this game at home (in the tub, sitting on the floor, etc).

As you can see, Alex has no fear about going under water.  Miss Amy has the kids pick an animal they want to be, then she counts that many animals to see how long the stay under water.  This week Alex stayed under for 4 elephants and then 5 lions!

And of course, they work on other basic skills like floating, kicking, and the beginning stages of arm circles.
